Cities use complex formulas to determine the amount to charge each entity based on several variables including: Amount of impervious surface, zoning, detention, best management practices and others. UCMC's storm water team consists of civil engineers and GIS specialists to review storm water charges and ensure all billing is correct. Many municipalities have only recently implemented storm water billing systems, following updated EPA regulations imposed in 2003. Our approach is simple: review your current storm water costs, and find ways to lower them. As part of our utility audit, our clients are provided with a storm water report detailing the property boundaries, square footage (or acres) of site and a comparison with the current charges using aerial imagery and information gathered from site visits.
